So far, I have eaten galette twice, and each time I have been served generous slices out of multiple cakes. If I don't come home weighing 500 kilos I will be a lucky girl! ;)
My favorite galette experience was at Capucine's grandparents house, where her little cousin, Alfred, who is about 4 years old chose me as his "reine" after he had found a toy and been coronated "roi". It was a process...
First the galettes were found and set sur la table. After that, Capucine told Alfred to sit under the table where he promptly crawled and waited patiently for her signal. Capucine would choose a slice and ask for who, Alfred? A qui? He then chose who the slice would be for without bias...very important in the search for the prize. After everyone's name was called, he came out and ran to his seat and the feast began. He cried with joy when he found the little toy in his piece and quickly ran to the cabinet behind me where he added his toy to a drawer completely filled with past figurines from other galettes. He was promptly crowned and asked to choose his queen. This was a tough decision, requiring careful deliberation. Mais, in then end, he pointed to me. The family told him to give his queen a kiss and so I promptly recieved a kiss on the cheek from my adorable king! C'etait vraiment amusant!

This is a photo of the traditional kind of puff pastry galette eaten to celebrate.

Brioche is popular too, and equally delicious. I had the chance to try huge slices of both on multiple occasions.
