bisous

Made it back to school today! I was feeling a lot better, just wasn't sure I could handle "patinage artistique", our figure skating PE class, haha. I spent the first couple hours of school in the library before meeting up with my class.

People noticed I was gone! Wow...I was even missed. I almost teared up when people asked me where I had been. Ahh...to be loved. Anyways, I discovered the reason that people get sick so often here. I get back from being horribly sick in bed for 2 days and everyone wants to kiss me. I figured the customary kiss on each cheek greeting would be out the window once they knew how sick I had been but no.

Frenchy: "You're back!"
Me: "Hey! Yeah...I was super sick, but I am feeling a lot better now"
Frenchy: "You weren't at ice skating this morning?"
Me: "Yeah, I was sick yesterday, sooo..." (Really now? S.I.C.K. Would you like me to throw up on your shiny little ice rink?)
Frenchy: "Alright, well, glad you're back!" *move in for the kisses*
Me: "I am sick"
Frency: *left cheek*
Me: "Sick?"
Frenchy: *right cheek*

Alright then? Suit yourself. To understand my day you can basically just take that conversation and play it over and over again on repeat. To put it in perspective, my disease did not stop a single person, not one, from kissing me. I wouldn't wish that sickness on anyone, but apparently they sacrifice for the sake of tradition.

  1. when the swine flu was just starting up, nicolas sarkozy asked the country to stop kissing each other on the cheeks... there was a lot of anger about it.

    glad you're feeling better (:
